GRADUATE PROJECT: CORALINE

Fourth Year, 2022

For my first Graduate Project, I reimaged the popular children's novella, Coraline, by Niel Gaiman, into a stage adaptation. Focussing on the themes of childhood, adventure, family and fear, I took inspiration from 1890s clothing, children's toys, anthropomorphic taxidermy and Victorian burlesque and circuses to inform my designs.

Quirky and contemporary, my aim was to design costumes and create a world that would appeal to both children and adults alike through colours and shapes.

From this project, I have made my Other Mother costume.
