MISSING LIVE THEATRE: RATTRAY HEAD LIGHTHOUSE
Third Year, First Semester (2020)
Missing Live Theatre was a brief created to inspire a re-imagination of outdoor spaces for performance purposes during the coronavirus pandemic.

Rattray Head Lighthouse, off the coast of Peterhead, Scotland, stood out to me as a wonderful starting point due to the structure's isolated nature.

By exploring the emotional consequences of lockdown and drawing on themes of isolation, loneliness and communication, I created a narrative and six characters, along with their costume designs, based on the lighthouse.

Inspiration ranged from 20th century fishermen, semaphore flags, 1920s bathing suits and the colours of rust.

The final outcome was a transformative costume designed for the character of "The Sea", with the intention of showing the changing tides and thus symbolising the ever-changing nature of life.
